DRIFT: The Sea Waves of Freedom is a 3-minute experimental short that uses the ocean as a way to think about release and openness. Inspired by Peter S. Quinn’s poem about sea, sky, and personal freedom, the film skips a traditional storyline and focuses more on mood and feeling. There are two cuts: one is just visuals and sound, and the other includes a reading of the poem "The Sea Waves of Freedom." The film moves between close-up shots of waves and birds and wider, calmer views of the shoreline. The rhythm of the water feels like breathing, and the open sky gives the film a sense of space and quiet. All the sound comes from field recordings, wind, water, wings, layered with simple music cues that add a soft, dreamlike vibe. It’s meant to feel like slipping into a peaceful moment rather than watching a narrative unfold. DRIFT isn’t really about telling a story. It’s more about giving the viewer a brief, calming break. An easy, atmospheric escape into nature.
