DRIFT: The Sea Waves Of Freedom is a 3-minute experimental short that captures the ephemeral poetry of the natural world as a metaphor for liberation. Inspired by Peter S. Quinn’s lyrical meditation on sea, sky, and self, the film dissolves narrative in favor of sensation, inviting viewers into a visual and sonic experience of motion, stillness, and deep presence. Two versions of the film exist: one without spoken dialogue, and another featuring a reading of the poem The Sea Waves of Freedom. DRIFT explores the untamed beauty of ocean waves and birds in flight through a blend of intimate close-ups and vast, open landscapes. Sequences of waves rising and falling mirror the breath of the Earth, while wide shots of the shoreline and sky evoke a sense of expansive solitude and inner freedom. The film’s sound design—drawn from on-location field recordings—immerses the viewer in the raw textures of wind, water, and wings. Pacing, framing, and music cues add a whimsical, dreamlike undertone, transforming each image into a moving meditation. DRIFT is not a story told, but a freedom felt: a brief, atmospheric escape into the quiet power of the wild.
